This Kenyan mask is an ornate object that not only summons a spiritual undertone in its stoic, yet emotive gaze. What we try to evoke with this shadowbox is a geography, a geography that makes you feel the terrain. The straw fabric mat is perfect because it serves both as a complement to the color of the mask and as a backdrop that signifies the austerity of the face's expression, the sun, the sand and stone. The double rustic frames used to build the shadow box maintain the encasing, and the golden bead trim serves as an excellent accent, while seamlessly blending into the frame at the edges. Encased with Museum Glass to complete this special shadow box, this is one of our finest pieces.
